Greetings from Canyon Ministries!

In less than two months we head back to the river for our first youth trip of 2008 and the beginning of our 14th year of ministry.  We look forward to what the Lord has planned for this season in the Canyon.

Seats still available for 2008 trips: Don't put it off another year - come join us to see the wonders of God's creation and how the Grand Canyon supports and upholds the Word of God.

 

The schedule and available seats are listed to the left but here are a few trips to consider:

 

Answers in Genesis' April 25th 9-day trip: Dr. Andrew Snelling, PhD Geologist and AiG's Director of Research, and Carl Kerby, one of AiG's founding directors will be along on this exciting trip. Due to a cancellation, there are now six seats available.  Join us for a truly unique insight into the significance of the Canyon.

 

The May 10th special "homeschool" 7-day trip: We still have two seats available.  This trip will include AiG's Buddy Davis and his wife, Kay.  This would be a great father/son or mother/daughter adventure!

 

May 16th 3-day trip: Several seats are still available.

Scholarship Fund*:  We are excited that the June Christian Scholars' Trip aimed at "influencing the influencers" is full and the Lord has already provided most of the needed funding.  For more information or to get involved, see the Scholarship information page on our website.

In addition, nine regular scholarships have already been awarded for the 2008 season and more will be given as funds become available.

*Canyon Ministries’ scholarship fund, falls under a separate non-profit (501(c)3) corporation.  River trips are run through Canyon Ministries Tours, LLC.

Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed: A movie coming to theaters this Spring staring Ben Stein appears, according to their website, to be exposing "a startling revelation that freedom of thought and freedom of inquiry have been expelled from publicly-funded high schools, universities and research institutions."  Check out the trailer on their website at Expelled the Movie, and consider if it would be a movie worth supporting.

Testimony:  The following is a letter we received from one of our guests last summer (shared with his permission):

Dear Tom and Paula,

I am truly blessed to have gotten to know you a little bit on our family's recent 3 day trip with you.  I was still dreaming about being on the water and in the canyon several days after we got home.  It was a GREAT trip from beginning to end.  I can not imagine there being any better hosts and guides in the world!  Sharing the canyon with fellow believers was special beyond words.  I especially loved sleeping by the river, under the stars.  I am so glad our "boys" got to see and hear the clear evidence for creation, a young earth and the catastrophic origin of the canyon.  It was our first time on the river and both Pat and I very soon lost our apprehension.  You guys took such great care of everyone that I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone.  I would love to do the 7 day sometime.  Maybe my kids will send me for my 70th birthday?  I do still plan to be hiking in the canyon well into my 90s.   Don't hesitate to ask if there is ever anything I can do for you or the ministry.

Mudstones support creation: What are "mudstones" you ask?  Well, they encompass the vast majority of the sedimentary rock layers found throughout the world.  What would happen if the "slow, particle at a time over millions of years" model of  deposition  of sedimentary layers was shown to be WRONG?  That seems to be what is settling out from the research being done at Indiana University as reported in the December issue of Science.

New research is suggesting mudstones were more likely deposited in a higher-energy environment then previously thought.  The report says:

"Because mudstones were long thought to record low-energy conditions of offshore and deeper water environments, our results call for reevaluation of published interpretations of ancient mudstone successions and derived paleoceanographic conditions."

The ARJ is in addition to, and on a more technical level than, AiG's Journal of Biblical & Scientific Studies (JOBSS), which is an extension of the Answers Magazine published by Answers in Genesis.
